I thought the discussion about how to write a personal narrative, particularly the lecture Professor Critzer did in class today was very interesting. Before coming to class, I did know how to write a personal narrative because I have read many comics in the past but I never thought about how many stories have a side character who is going through the same experiences as the main character. When we watched “Everybody Loves Raymond” it became clear to me the parallel many comics and T.V shows have between the protagonist and the side characters. When we watched the show, the first thing that came to my mind was the Nickelodeon show “Drake and Josh”. In this series, in nearly every episode, of the main focus of the episode is Drake, similar events to what Drake is going through will occur to Josh. At the climax, Drake and Josh usually help each other get through their difficulties and they end up bonding and getting closer as brothers and best friends. Occasionally, these situations occur in real life as well, and I think I am going to expand on that in my personal narrative. I wasn’t the best kid growing up and many of my friends endured some of the same things that happened to me, nearly at the same time. We always had one person who was a bit more experienced in our group of friends and our downfalls were usually resolved in the end.
